Coastal Fill
Beach fill refers to the process of placing sand on a beach where it previously eroded. It is also known as beach renourishment, beach replenishment, and beach dredge and fill. Beach fill is typically a response to coastal erosion that threatens to undermine property, buildings, and infrastructure.
Beach Sand
Beach sand can be used in volleyball courts, home and backyard applications, and even in your garden soil to increase its pH level and drainage.
Be sure first to research whether beach sand would benefit the plants in your garden and how to remove the excess salt in beach sand before applying it to the soil.
Fill
Fill sand is a common material used in both residential and commercial construction projects. Just as its name suggests, it’s a substance comprised of excellent particles of rock. These particles may have broken down into sand naturally over time or run through crushing machines several times. Having been sifted down to the smallest sizes, fill sand has a very high compaction rating. A slightly coarser version of it is also called PG&E sand because it’s made for utility companies such as Pacific Gas & Electric Co. to backfill trenches.
Mason Sand
Mason Sand, sometimes called "mortar sand" or "masonry sand," is fine sand that has been screened and washed. It is similar to concrete sand, though crushed finer and with more uniform-sized granules. Projects completed with mason sand versus concrete sand will also have a more 'finished appearance. Its properties make it one of the most versatile of sands.
Common applications:
For cement-mixing and brick-laying
As joint sand for grouting between pavers
As a foundation when constructing pools and patios
For mixing stucco and brick and block mortar
As a replacement for beach sand in things like volleyball courts.
CLAY
Clay soil has been serving the lives of people since it ever came to the notice. For the past many years of history, it has been used for a lot of uses. But are all the uses of clay known to you in detail? No, I assure. Hence to enlighten you about the uses of clay and about how clay serves those uses, we have written this piece of reading for you.
Features of clay that makes it suitable for several uses:
Clay is high in terms of nutrients and minerals that are required for the growth of plants.
It is moist and compact in nature that enables it to be used for pottery and ceramics.
Further research on clay soil has shown that it contains elements that can help serve in the medical and medicine industry.
Crushed Concrete
Crushed concrete is made up of asphalt debris from other construction projects that can be reused to create driveways, pathways, garden beds, and more. When any concrete structure, road, sidewalk, or parking lot is demolished, concrete is usually deposited in a landfill. Concrete is not biodegradable and won’t decompose — so it simply sits there taking up space and causing environmental problems. All the while, new concrete is simultaneously created to begin the process again. Thankfully, there is an alternative to this unsustainable and inefficient process: Recycling!
Recycling crushed concrete to be reused helps reduce landfill overflow AND saves more resources from being used to create new concrete. The concrete can be crushed down to specific sizes, cleaned so that unwanted debris is removed from the mixture, and reused to solve several construction and landscaping problems.
Dolomite
It is crushed and sized for use as a road base material, an aggregate in concrete and asphalt, railroad ballast, rip-rap, or fill. It is also calcined in cement production and cut into blocks of a specific size known as "dimension stone." Dolomite's reaction with acid also makes it useful.
